"I have to say that my experience with Phil was hands down, the best of all of them!"

A few months ago I started looking around for my first brand new car.  I have owned a lot of used cars and decided it was time for a brand new one.  I am constantly doing research on all types of cars so I had a good idea of what I was looking for. I need a car thats cheep on gas, reliable, and has affordable monthly payments.  I ended up choosing a 2012 Honda Civic EX.

Along the way, I visited Mazda, Toyota/scion, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, and of course Honda.  I knew that I didnt want a domestic vehicle but I had to compare.  I have to say that my experience with Phil was hands down, the best of all of them.  Phil didnt try to ram a car down my throat like the other guys, he listened to what i wanted and simply showed me the car.  On the test drive, instead of trying to sell me the car, he just let me drive it. Unlike any other dealership I went into,  I really feel like he let me decide that the car was great for me.  Phil was knowledgeable, informative and friendly.  He turned a normally dreadful experience into a pleasant one.

This is the third Civic that I have owned. I had a 1977 (an inheritance from my grandmother) and 1983 Civic that both had over 300,000 KM on them before they packed it in!  I hope this 9th generation Civic treats me just as well!  Thank you again for the great service.

As a matter of fact I have a small personal story for you that you may appreciate.
 
On Tuesday night I was out to dinner with a party of 8. Somehow we started talking about our vehicles. I know of three people who are very close to me that deal with Chrysler. Two deal with Coquitlam Chrysler and one deals specifically with Maple Ridge Chrysler. These three people have nothing but horror stories to tell about these dealerships and how they lie, cheat, and are just a huge pain to deal with. They could all go on for hours about how they dislike dealing with them! I felt very proud to be able to tell my story and let them know how much I enjoy dealing with Honda and when I walk in to door and Stu recognizes me he says 'Hi Allisha'. Walking into a place where you only go once in a while and they remember your name means a lot!!! Though my friends and family's vehicles are all newer than mine I wouldn't trade them vehicles even if they paid me!!!

"Our expectations are high; but so is our confidence based on our initial experience with Westwood!"

My wife Jodie and I found our recent experience in dealing with Westwood Honda to be very satisfying and positive. Our salesperson ? Winnie Lee ? was very patient and ensured that each and every question we had ? and I'm afraid there were a lot of them ? were answered fully and clearly.

I would like to single out the Sales Manager, Rick Applegath, for his professionalism, warm and open personality, and his willingness to craft a mutually fair deal. To be more specific, the Honda Odyssey we ultimately ended up leasing was neither the best-priced, nor the most powerful and feature-laden of the ones we looked at; and Honda Canada has a long way to go to make their leasing and finance rates competitive on their mini-vans. That being said, the fact that we did settle on a Honda was a testament to Rick's integrity, trustworthiness, and belief in his product; we concluded that if there were any post-purchase deficiencies that cropped up, then Rick, Winnie and the Westwood team would do whatever it took to make things right with the minimum of fuss and expense. That, in the final analysis, was worth more than a good lease rate or a few extra features. So Honda Canada needs to be particularly appreciative of their commitment and efforts.

There really is nothing that I would say to Westwood that they really need to improve on at the local level; this is the first Honda product we've bought, after a long line of Mercedes-Benz products. Our expectations are high; but so is our confidence based on our initial experience with Westwood.

We came in thinking to get a used car of value around $10,000 dollars and went out with a brand new 2011 Honda Civic. All because of Mike. He is the first one who walked to us and greeted us with a big smile when he saw us coming in from the door. He asked us about what we needed and took time to show us more than a few different cars. He is really knowledgeable about your products; super polite and professional. You probably know by our names that we are tough bargainers, we have to admit Mike is even a tougher salesman in a good sense. He is very patient with us during the process. So we walked out believing we got the best deal of the car and service. On a scale of 1-10 we would give him a perfect 10 and even more without hesitation.
 
Kudos to your management for hiring and training your staffs so well. We'll for sure let our relatives and friends know about your location if they want to buy cars.

"I can count on Westwood Honda to maintain my vehicle properly!"

 I brought my CRV in on an emergency basis without an appointment and was very fortunate to be met by Don Preston at your service desk. He immediately responded to my problem by documenting the issues and promised to have the vehicle looked at as soon as possible.
 
He promised to call me as soon as he had news about the problem and did so within 90 minutes. He advised of the mechanical issues and promised to have the work completed by end of the work day. I was very pleased to hear from him 2 hours later advising the car was ready for pickup.
 
Although Westwood Honda is not near my home in Maple Ridge, I will be scheduling all major future work at your facility in the future. I previously was a customer of Marv Jones Honda and had a very bad experience with them last fall. It will be nice to know I can count on Westwood Honda to maintain my vehicle properly in the future.
 
I would like to compliment and thank Don Preston in particular, as well as all who were involved in repairing my vehicle.  Although this is only the second time I have had work done on my vehicle both experiences were very professional and satisfying. Kudos to you and your staff.

I am always pleased with the the level of service provided by Westwood Honda. I love the pick up and drop off service it saves me from having to bum a ride from a friend. When my car was not ready on time I got a call to let me know that they were running behind. There is nothing more annoying than when you are left in the dark. I appreciated that very much.
I usually deal with Gerald and it always amazes me how he remembers my name. He is efficient, informative and I feel confident that the information I get from him is honest and reliable.

I was in this past week getting my car serviced and I'd like to compliment you and your staff for on the exceptional customer service that I received.  Specifically, Don, the gentleman at the front desk.  He was friendly, courteous, and very helpful.  When I called to get a quote for the work that was to be completed, he provided me with up front information and made me feel confident that I would be well served at your service department.  When I returned to pick up my car, Don thoroughly explained the work that was done and any upcoming service that I would need to maintain my car.  Even after I noted that I wasn't happy with my experience at another Honda service centre, Don handled my complaint without 'bashing' the other dealership.  I was very happy with the service that I received at your service centre and have already recommended it to family and friends (my parent's will be making an appointment to have their Accord serviced there in the next couple of weeks).  As a manager, you should feel great that you have someone like Don working directly with your clients.  As I see it, he is definitely an asset to your team!

Your people have put a whole new spin on buying a car from a dealership - as late as it was that night and as busy as it was (end of month)  all were chipper and we had a good experience all the way around!  Keep it up - you don't see that very often!  The car is all we expected, and every dent has disappeared - didn't expect them all to go away but do appreciate it, and right up to a full tank of gas.  That was a new experience!

Thank you for your email because it gives me an opportunity to rant and rave about Gerald Brown and his partner, (Stu). Back to Gerald, he is a gem, whatever you do make sure you keep him. He is good, I have never posed a query or question to him yet, that I can remember, that he cannot answer or find an answer. Over the years I have dealt with many service people with different auto dealers and Westwood Honda are if not the best they are in the top three. For almost 25 years I worked for the Ministry of Labour, Provincial Apprenticeship Branch and met many people in your industry and had many meetings with the Automobile Retailers Association over the years, so I do have a working knowledge of how difficult it can be to get well trained courteous staff in the service area, they would rather be mechanics. "I have yet to have a bad experience at Westwood, and I know that many customers do not continue to use the service department of the dealerships were they first purchased their vehicle. I will continue to have my Honda Accord at your Service Centre as long as I own it and can afford to do so, with Gerald around that will be no problem. Thanking you and your staff. By the way in case I didn't say this Honda make superb cars especially the Accord like mine.

Not only did he recommend and explain the necessary service/ repairs, he researched IPOD adapters for us. When we arrived at 6:00pm to pick up our vehicle he took the time to explain our service to us in detail and suggest an adapter, even though his work hours had ended.

Our immediate family and extended family all drive Honda's, and of course we always recommend Stuart and Westwood Honda.
Our second vehicle is also a Honda with over 300,000  km and we still have it serviced regularly at your dealership because of Stuart's knowledge and excellent customer service skills.

I have always had a positive experience whenever I bring my vehicles in for service.

There are a few moments that stand out in my mind though.

I would like to single out Destiny, she has been extremely helpful in finding ways to service my car and to save me money.
I was laid off work a year and a half ago and I hadn't brought my car in for a while. When she found out I was not working, she suggested items that could wait, gave me a break on a other items and really went out of her way to help me when I was down. I have never forgotten that, I have since gotten back on my feet but it has been a struggle. The fact that Destiny went above and beyond in helping me when I was down speaks volume about her and Westwood Honda.

In fact, all the service people at Westwood Honda have been excellent. Alan the Assistant Service Manager was the one person who figured out the door seals on my Honda Odyssey was the wrong seal installed for that model. For years, we couldn't get the sliding doors open without someone on the inside pushing and someone on the outside pulling. The first week Alan started, I had my van in and saw firsthand the problem with opening the door and right away he said the seals were probably wrong. Bingo, fixed right away.

Just to tell you that Stu Miller and Gerald are awesome service people.  Have trusted Gerald for a  number of years and today had a long talk with Stu.  Had an unexpected hole repaired in one of my tires.  Stu was great - knowledgeable and personable.  Another guy that can be trusted.  I own three Hondas and while they are not the most fashionable-modern looking cars in the world (actually the junk that Chrysler pedals looks the best), they are the best build cars in the world.  If I had the luxury of buying a new car right now, I couldn't decide which Honda I would want.  They are not blessed with leading edge technology that will likely break down and is perhaps too sophisticated for someone like me (e.g. MyFord on the Ford Edge) but the parts are so well made and they last a long time.  People can buy their fancy Mercedes, BMW and even Volkswagen but they are a pain to keep with all the fine adjustments--especially when they get older.  I keep looking elsewhere and Hyundai has some interesting products but I always return to something that I know will last - Honda. Your dealership is perhaps the most polished, smooth-operating dealership I have yet encountered.

I was having a weird issue with my car and even though I did not have an appointment until 3pm, I drove down there at 11am and explained my problem to the service team. He was great, he welcomed me with a smile and asked what the issue was. He was very courteous. My car was done in 40 min. "I experienced what I would define as exceptional service!"

Considering that I had just been in a traumatic accident, purchasing my new CR-V could have been a less than enjoyable experience.   But I found Phil, Donald, Frank and the rest of the team to be very respectful and responsive to my needs.  I had a tight timeline from ICBC (less than one week) and they worked to make it happen for me.  I especially appreciated that they stayed after hours on a Friday evening to make sure all my paperwork was properly completed.

My introduction to my Honda has been very recent as I purchased my 2001 Civic last year from a friend. To date it has been a very pleasant experience.  I have only had it in two or three times for service and each time, the cost is reasonable and service very timely. The latest service from yesterday was exceptionally impressive, as the DRL relay was faulty due to intermittent solder connections. It would have been easy, and reasonable, to just replace the relay. For your service staff to go to the trouble of resoldering the connections rather than replacing it, resulting in a cost saving of a $100 to the customer is very impressive.

I would like to bring to your attention the 'Extraordinary Service' I received this morning from your Alan Wood.  The fact that he is your assistant service manager, already demonstrates to me that you recognize that you have an Associate who is a ?cut above? the rest.  Far too often, you only hear the negative things...but not today!
 
As soon as I walked in the door this morning, I was warmly greeted.  He discussed with me the pros & cons of the service options, and seemed genuinely concerned about saving me some money, rather trying to up-sell additional services.  He advised that the car would be ready at 11:00 AM, and true to his word, I received a call that it would be ready on time.
 
To my surprise and delight, (when the moment of truth arrived), I found that Alan had indeed gone above and beyond!  He had noticed that a specific repair / service should have been covered by the Honda Warranty, and that is exactly what he did.  This too, saved me some money ? and this is something which I greatly appreciate.
 
I too, am in the service industry, (Hotels), and am keenly aware how important good service is; and equally important, how valuable these individuals are to an organization!  Alan is such an individual!
 
Although the experience of buying my vehicle was a little less than it should have been; the service I received today from Alan, reminds me that I made the right decision in purchasing my vehicle at Westwood Honda!

I have recently experienced some great service from your department on a service related issue.  I came there about three months ago with a front headlight bulb problem.  Your staff was excellent.  They were prompt, courteous and attended to my needs immediately.They had the bulb in stock, took the time to replace it for me which for me would have taken a long time to figure out how to remove the wheel cover and your young service technician did it just as he was leaving the door to go home at no charge.  Impressed by the service my wife later returned a battery that we had purchased at a local auto parts dealer, went back to Westwood Honda and  had the service completed.

I only have great things to say about your department and your staff.
I can say with total sincerity that your staff made what looked like a painfully expensive and hopeless situation turn out to be a positive one.
I was faced with enormous costs based on a transmission that never should have quite on me. The projected costs were quite astronomical for a "working stiff" like myself and, quite frankly, had me disappointed with my vehicle. Honda is a name that everyone I know associates with quality and integrity. Everyone I spoke to, who heard about my vehicle repair issues and costs, were quite shocked. "Surly Honda would assist and make this situation right."
Well I know that if it was not for the diligent efforts of Destinie and Alan I would have probably been quite bitter about my experience. Destinie kept me in the loop with the status of my vehicle and the parts required for repair on a daily basis. She also ensured that I had a vehicle at my disposal to get me to all my daily appointments and SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my stress level. Alan (who I am quite familiar with now due to my regular service appointments) has always been the gentleman and always made me feel like a welcome customer that has value whenever I walked in. When I see Alan at the counter I know I will leave a happy customer. Both staff members made me feel that they personalized my situation and were working on my behalf. At the end of the day they assisted me in ways that you do not see ANY OTHER DEALERSHIP step up. I have owned many vehicles over the years and even top end dealerships such as BMW would not go out of their way to do what Honda staff do.
I paid the bill knowing I got the best price that anyone on this planet could have given me! They provided a loaner vehicle to help me get to my appointments and even threw in a free car wash at the end of the day to say "Sorry for your troubles but rest assured we mean it when we say that".
I could easily have saved a few dollars over the years and taken my car for servicing else where. I have heard on more than one occasion, "Hey are you stupid? The dealership ALWAYS charges more than the private mechanics! Why are you not saving a few bucks?" My response is always the same. Honda fixes it right the first time and they treat me right every time. I was in a board room full of manager this morning, who asked about my car troubles (this was an epic event that my peers wanted to hear the end results) and I sang the praises of Honda. MY boss said he was considering buying a very well maintained "used Honda" but was concerned given my recent repair issues. I personally guaranteed the quality of his vehicle AND the performance of Westwood Honda (my boss also lives close to the dealership and will be using their services). The service department manager Sheldon should also be credited for assisting in discounting some of the labour and acknowledging client loyalty.
I would like to give Honda Canada a very huge "thank you" for stepping up, with minimal difficulty, to say "Let us see how we can help you" and ACTUALLY help! When was the last time you saw that from ANY company?
I was impressed with the quality of Honda vehicles before I ever bought one. I am even more impressed with the service of Westwood Honda and what the staff do there to make you feel like an integral part of the Honda family.
I will continue to do my repairs at Westwood Honda for as long as I own a Honda and quite frankly do not see myself owning any other make of vehicle in my life time.
My compliments to the staff at Westwood Honda, and Honda Canada for creating a loyal customer out of me.
I actually look forward to my next visit.

The recent experience at Westwood Honda was very positive.  We arrived at the pre-assigned appointment time and although the service counter was very busy within seconds Sam was available to assit with the request for the routine service we needed on the car.  The work was completed in less than the originally estimated time, an additional request to Sam for a quotation on the cost of winter tires was provided, the bill provided sufficient details on the work done on the vehicle and included the written cost estimate for snow tires. 
 
The job well done should go to Samul Li, plus the technician that worked on the vehicle (who we never really see) and also the young man that was busy unloading winter tires and arranging them in your showroom.
 
The coffee was good, the waiting area clean and comfortable.  I also noticed you have one or two areas where waiting customers could set-up to work on their lap-top if so desired.

We have dealt with other car dealers before. Over the years that we own a car which we purchased from car dealers of various car models, makes or types, we always made it a point to consider how a Sales agent would approach us when trying to sell us his product. To us, the way of uproach to a potential client is very important and a priority factor in making purchase decision.

This is our first time ever to deal with a Honda dealership and we're very impressed with the way the Westwood Staff has treated us. They made us feel at home, conversing with us on a personal level, cracking jokes, and yet very businesslike in talking to us about their product.

We were particularly impressed with a certain Jeffrey Masigan and the Manager by the name of Mel Madrazo. These gentlemen went an extra mile to make us feel as comfortable as we can be in dealing with them while we were there, very genuine with their feelings. Our hats off to these guys. We went to your Car dealership with a 55 to 45 chance of purchasing a car. After dealing with these gentlemen, it became 100 to 0 chance of buying one. We have never been treated so very respected and special by any Sales Staff.

We'd like to deal with these gentlemen again in the near future, when we buy our next Honda.

We wish all car dealerships have more staff like Jeffrey and Mel.

I think this fellow is the best of the best..in fact, I think he should actually sell vehicles..maybe  one day a week..It is rare to come upon a person who is a natural when it comes to taking care of the needs of others...

Bob is an excellent Sales Person. I would highly recommend him to anyone of my friends. He is extremely knowledgeable about cars and the product he is selling. The first time we met him was about 2 months ago. We came back to him because we trusted him. He wasn't available the second time we came back, so his Partner Tony helped us out. Tony is knowledgeable also and very helpful. Both were not pushy. Everyone at Westwood is so friendly. We enjoy coming to the dealership and feel we can trust everyone.

My service experience at Westwood Honda has always been exemplary.  I originally bought my car from Westwood Honda on the recommendation of my mother, J.P., who has had consistently great experiences.  Through her recommendation I also contact Gerald Brown in the service department whenever my car needs service and he provides excellent, personal service.  Gerald goes above and beyond, ensuring that I understand the work being done on my vehicle, the cost involved, and what issues may arise in the future.  He's friendly and inspires confidence that he is being honest and fair with the work being done.  I think this high level of service can only reflect well on future sales, as I know my mother purchased her Civic with a major contributing factor being the personal service, and I'd be very strongly inclined to be a return customer for the same reason in the future.

"Dealing with Westwood Honda since 1987!"

As usual, great job. The service was an oil change with a check over of my daughter's 1991 Honda Civic (she lives in Victoria, but we still have the car serviced through Westwood Honda, whenever she comes over).  We have been dealing with Westwood Honda since 1987.
 
Gerald spoke to my wife and gave her the confidence that the car is still going strong (220,000+ km), but the battery is going to need replacement before the cold winter, so we did that as well even though the winters in Victoria aren't that cold.
 
Car was ready on time and the courtesy service provided is excellent.

Just to put it into context, I've moved to Vancouver (off Marine Dr near the Knight St Bridge) but I still make the enjoyable drive out to your service shop in Port Moody because I trust and really like your team. There's a Honda dealership about 10 or so minutes west of my home but the Westwood crew is tops and I will continue to make you folks my go-to service team.
 
A particular shout out to Alan Wood at the service desk. Sweet, funny and a pro through and through.

"Very helpful and kept me well informed!"

My 2008 Honda Civic recently had to get its starter replaced at low kilometers (42,000); unfortunately because I bought it used the warranty ran out on Jan 2007. However, I managed to get in contact with Honda relations/customer service . They understood my frustrations and out of good will paid for the starter. This was very much appreciated due to the fact that I'm a full time nursing student and don't have a lot of extra money lying around.


I would also like to especially thank Stu and Gerald! They were both very helpful and kept me well informed.
